Joe DeLaurentis, II

Joe DeLaurentis founded Tiger Group, Inc in 1992. Bringing his years of construction and industrial experience along with his many years as a successful business owner, Joe had a vision of growing a highly skilled team of inspectors to meet the diverse needs of the industry. Joe’s past experience includes residential remodeling and new construction as well as equipment and facilities engineering. While completing innumerable home and commercial building inspections and surveys since 1991, Joe also received Connecticut’s DEP “S” or Supervisory Certification for wood boring insects and is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors.

As President of Tiger Home & Building Inspections, Joe “Jr.” takes a hands-on approach to leading the family business, overseeing daily operations, team management, and business development. Despite his leadership responsibilities, Joe still enjoys getting out in the field and conducting inspections whenever time allows.

A graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Joe brings extensive hands-on experience in new home construction, remodeling, and commercial construction. He joined his father at Tiger in 1995, and together they built upon the company’s strong foundation, expanding its services and reputation throughout Connecticut.

Joe’s lifelong passion for construction continues to drive his interest in evolving building methods, materials, and technologies. He has a particular interest in timber frame construction, energy efficiency, and alternative building techniques. Joe is a Connecticut Licensed Home Inspector, a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), holds a Connecticut Supervisory License for Wood-Destroying Insects, and is nationally certified in radon testing through the NRPP.

Outside of Tiger, Joe enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, especially skiing, boating, and cycling.

Kara Golden

Kara began her career gaining valuable marketing experience with start-up companies before joining the family business, Tiger Home & Building Inspections, in 2003. Today, she leads Tiger’s Marketing and Business Development efforts while playing an active role in the company’s daily operations, management, and continued growth. Kara is a graduate of Skidmore College and enjoys building lasting relationships within Connecticut’s real estate community.

Outside of Tiger, Kara is an avid equestrian who enjoys hiking, yoga, and travel. She resides in Farmington, CT, with her husband, Erik, and their two rescue Labs, Jackson and Parker.

George Turner

With over 40 years of experience in various aspects of the real estate industry, including construction, remodeling, and home inspections, George is a highly versatile and well-rounded inspector. His journey began at The Henry Abbott Technical School, where he gained extensive knowledge in the building trades, including HVAC, electrical, and roofing, giving him a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of a home.

A licensed home inspector since 2000, his engaging and knowledgeable approach has made him a highly sought-after inspector within the real estate community. In addition to his home inspection services, George is a Certified FHA 203(k)/HomeStyle Consultant, recognized for expertly guiding clients through the renovation process. He is certified as a Radon Measurement Provider by the AARST-NRPP and is an FAA-Licensed Drone Pilot. Additionally, George is an active member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI).

Client Service Manager

Peter Kessen

Peter Kessen joined Tiger Group, Inc. in 2016 as Client Service Manager. With twenty-three years’ experience in call centers and Operations, and twenty years in Direct Response Marketing, Peter is an invaluable asset to our organization and Client Service Team. Peter is far more than the cog in our wheel at Tiger; he manages all office activities, keeping us well-organized, and assists in the communication between our inspection staff, in-office client services and business development efforts in the field.

And, as a triplet with five siblings, Peter has the life skills to hold his own in the Tiger. Outside of the office, Peter is an avid golfer, reader and a volunteer for Children at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Alan Williams

Alan has been inspecting homes since 1996 and has completed thousands of inspections throughout his career. With more than 30 years of building, renovation, and construction experience, he brings extensive knowledge and a well-rounded perspective to every inspection.

His background includes historic renovations and restorations, new construction, waterfront and vacation homes, construction management, and lead paint abatement projects. Alan is licensed as a Home Inspector in both Connecticut and Rhode Island and is also a licensed Connecticut Wood-Destroying Insect (WDI) Inspector.

Alan is a RI Federal VA Compliance Inspector and takes great pride in serving veterans and military families. Coming from a U.S. Navy family, he is also an active member and volunteer with the United States Submarine Veterans in Groton, Connecticut. In 2024, he received the Robert Link Annual Award for his outstanding service and contributions to the organization.

Alan enjoys sharing his extensive building knowledge with clients and helping them better understand their homes. In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering and woodworking.

Art Diedrick

Art has been a highly requested member of the Tiger team since joining Tiger Group, Inc. in 2003. With more than two decades of inspection experience, Art brings extensive hands-on knowledge of homes, construction, and real estate to every inspection.

Before becoming a home inspector, Art worked in roofing, masonry, and drywall and owned and operated a masonry and landscaping business for more than 15 years. As a former Connecticut-licensed Realtor, he also brings a valuable understanding of the real estate transaction and the needs of buyers, sellers, and agents. Art also holds a Connecticut Pest Control License (O-47509).

Known for his thoroughness, attention to detail, and approachable style, Art takes the time to educate his clients and clearly explain his findings. His goal is to help clients better understand the home, its systems, and the issues that matter most.

Outside of Tiger, Art enjoys spending time with his family and his many rescue dogs!

Brett Avelin

Licensed since 2016, Brett brings more than ten years of hands-on inspection experience to Tiger clients, backed by a strong background in construction, building science, energy efficiency, and project management. His construction experience includes building his own family home in Vermont, giving him a firsthand understanding of how homes and their systems come together.

Brett has particular expertise in evaluating homes affected by water exposure and coastal conditions, making him one of our Waterfront Specialists, an especially valuable skill in the shoreline communities Tiger serves. His background in solar and building efficiency also gives him a strong understanding of building performance and how the different systems within a home interact.

Just as important, Brett is a natural people person who puts clients at ease while providing a clear, practical, and realistic understanding of a home’s condition. He combines a builder’s perspective, an experienced inspector’s eye, and a genuine commitment to exceptional client service.

Brett lives in Guilford with his wife, their two teenage sons, and their dog, Lulu, who you may have the pleasure of meeting at inspections! Outside of inspections, he plays in a band, coaches and plays soccer, and enjoys kayaking on open water.

Mitchell “Bryan” Boling

For nearly thirty years, Bryan has been involved in family-owned real estate, including managing, repairing, and remodeling numerous rental properties. Bryan brings a wide range of skills and knowledge to his inspections, with additional past occupational experience in auto mechanics, retail sales, and, most recently, mold remediation. Becoming a licensed inspector was a natural transition for Bryan.

In his free time, Bryan enjoys singing in the church choir, composing at his piano, and spending time with friends and family in his hometown of Madison, CT.

Dave Stevenson

Dave joined Tiger Group with over 11 years’ experience in building maintenance and systems. He earned his home inspector license in 2015 and has a strong eye for detail and a reputation for being thorough – in fact you’ll always find him with a level when he’s working around his own home! Dave has a friendly nature and enjoys sharing his knowledge with his clients throughout the home buying process. He is a history buff who likes going to the beach, crossword puzzles and loves time spent with his extended family. He resides in Meriden with his wife and three kids.

Eric Hackett

Tiger welcomes Eric to our inspection team. With over 25 years of experience as a residential carpenter, Eric is very skilled and experienced in an array of trades as well as communicating with and understanding the needs of the homeowner. As with many inspectors, the rigors of repetitive physical work eventually caught up with him, leading home into a new career where he could share his extensive construction knowledge. Eric began his inspection career in 2015, in both residential and commercial inspections for a national company, a new career start that exposed him to methods of construction used throughout the country. Therefore, it has been a natural transition to become a Home Inspector at Tiger. Eric’s vast experience in the building industry and his friendly informative manner have made him a respected and requested inspector on our team.

Eric’s “free” time is family time, participating in various activities with his two young and quickly growing boys and lovely wife, whatever they may throw his way.

John Horrocks

John began his construction career in 1980, gaining his knowledge through remodeling, building additions and new construction.  Additionally, with his extensive experience maintaining commercial properties throughout New Haven County, John is a great asset to both Tiger’s Commercial and Residential Divisions. John has been performing home and building inspections since 1994 and has since performed thousands of inspections and developed a long-time following.

Keith Powell

Keith joins Tiger with nearly two decades of construction experience, having worked as an independent contractor for the last 12 years, first as a carpenter and later as a project manager in residential construction, specializing in historic homes. Working for a non-profit developer in Hartford, Keith not only had the pleasure of restoring historic architecture but also spent many weeks volunteering on mission trips rebuilding disaster areas around the country. With his skills as an Antique Homes Specialist and calm demeanor, we know our clients will benefit greatly when working with Keith.

Keith has also enjoyed a parallel career in Performing Arts Management, so he understands the value of customer service and communication and enjoys working with new homeowners. When not inspecting, Keith can be found walking in the woods, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends.

Patrick Hughes

Patrick joined Tiger in 2018 with over 25 years in the building trades, including plumbing, electrical, construction, and carpentry. He has a passion for detail, which he acquired through his years of paper hanging and woodworking. Patrick holds a CT Home Inspection License, a Pest Control License for Wood-Destroying Insects, and is a Certified Mold Specialist. 

Additionally, Patrick has an in-depth grasp of the client service side of being a home inspector, as he has the unique experience of creating and running 2 restaurants in the past. His ability to calmly and directly communicate allows his inspections to flow seamlessly, and he is highly likely to make you smile a time or two through the process.

Patrick’s ability to learn and master skills in the building industries does not compare to his pride in singularly raising two children.

Seth Massey

Seth Massey joined Tiger with highly relevant experience in the plumbing and heating supply industry, having worked in both sales and warehouse management for over 13 years. Seth also owned a handyman business for over 5 years, worked as a Service Technician for new installations of windows and doors, and holds his Mold Remediation Certification. With his range of skills and experience, Seth made an easy transition to the Home Inspection Industry.  An asset to the Tiger Team, Seth holds a CT Home Inspection Permit, is a Certified Mold Specialist, and is an (O) Licensed Pest Control Operator for Wood-Destroying Insects. 

He resides in Guilford with his wife and 2 young boys.

Septic Inspector

Michael Zingarella

Mike Zingarella joins the Tiger team as a septic system inspector, bringing over seven years of hands-on experience in the decentralized wastewater industry. His background includes system installation, four years of inspection work, and a key role in the installation and operation of a research and development site for a leading wastewater technology manufacturer. Mike is a licensed installer (License #006515) and has built strong working relationships with pumpers and installers throughout the region.

Originally from Clinton, CT, Mike is also an avid baseball player and coach. When he’s not on the field or inspecting systems, you’ll likely find him out on his boat fishing the local waters.

Brian Long

Brian joined Tiger Home Inspection in 2025, bringing over 21 years of experience in the Energy and Home Services industry. His background includes leadership roles in customer service, sales, and operations, as well as nine years building and running a successful home services business.

Brian’s hands-on experience gives him a strong understanding of roofing, structure, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, wood-destroying insect inspections, and sewer scope evaluations. He is known for delivering thorough inspections and explaining findings clearly so clients can move forward with confidence.

A longtime carpentry and home improvement enthusiast, Brian enjoys helping clients understand when a repair is manageable — and when it’s best left to a professional.

He is a member of InterNACHI, holds a CT Home Inspection License, a Pest Control License for Wood-Destroying Insects, and is certified in Sewer Camera Inspections.

Brian lives in Stonington, CT, with his wife, two children, and three dogs. Outside of work, he coaches Little League, enjoys cooking with his wife, and unwinds with family time.

JJ Clark

JJ Clark brings a strong foundation in marketing, public outreach, and client engagement to his role in Business Development at Tiger Group, Inc. With experience in community programs, customer service, and relationship management, he excels at building connections with Realtors, clients, and referral partners.

His background in promoting public safety initiatives translates seamlessly into home inspections — where education, trust, and clear communication are essential. Known for his approachable demeanor and strong follow-through, JJ thrives in fast-paced environments and understands the importance of responsiveness, reputation, and reliability in real estate transactions. His ability to communicate complex information clearly helps reinforce the value of inspection services to clients and industry partners.

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, JJ continues to strengthen his knowledge in business strategy and marketing. Outside of work, JJ enjoys movies, baking, LEGO building, and creative projects that challenge him to think differently and stay inspired.

Amber Mugford

We welcome Amber Mugford to our Environmental Client Service Team. Amber joins Tiger with 8 years of client service and retail experience, and truly enjoys interacting with people and problem-solving. Her friendly and outgoing personality will be welcoming to clients and Realtors alike.

When not working at Tiger, she is a busy mom of 2 and enjoys hiking and shopping.

Carrie Pillar

Carrie brings over 22 years of customer service experience to Tiger Group as an Environmental Technician. Joining Tiger in 2010, she understands the quality and level of service it takes to succeed in today’s demanding market. Carrie is certified by the National Radon Proficiency Program for Radon Measurement (NEHA).

Larissa Mason

Along with her bright smile and positive attitude, Larissa brings to Tiger’s Environmental Team a relevant history of conducting routine analysis of in-process material, raw material & environmental samples. Her many licenses and certifications include: Lead Abatement Supervisor, Asbestos Abatement Worker, OSHA 10 License, Hazmat/ Hazwoper, LRRP and State of Connecticut Radon Proficiency.

Currently in School for Environmental Science & Toxicology, she is a quick learner and enjoys new experiences (knowledge is power).  With strong multi- tasking skills as well as, communication and organization skills, she is an invaluable asset to our Environmental Team.

In her free time, Larissa enjoy exercising, reading & being a mom.

JD DeLaurentis

JD DeLaurentis joined Tiger Home and Building Inspections in 2025 after earning his degree in Sustainable Design with a minor in Business from the University of Vermont. Throughout high school and college, JD gained hands-on experience in various construction areas, from field labor to construction management, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the building industry.

Upon joining Tiger, JD stepped into a hybrid role supporting multiple aspects of business operations. He holds an FAA-licensed Remote Drone Pilot and Certified Radon Measurement Professional (RMP) by the National Radon Proficiency Program. He currently contributes across client services, environmental and business development, bringing flexibility, initiative, and a strong work ethic to every area he touches.

With a passion for energy-efficient architecture and eco-friendly building practices, JD combines technical design expertise with a customer-first mindset. His education and experience equip him to support clients with both knowledge and care, and he is committed to growing his role within the family business.

Outside of work, JD is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys skiing, boating, biking, and spending time with family and friends.

Jody Schulmeister

Jody brings an extensive background in customer service to Tiger’s Client Service Team.  After owning her successful daycare business for 20 years, she decided to try a new field and assist clients through the stressful time of home buying. Jody is extremely patient and helpful in supporting clients and Realtors with scheduling and inspection questions.

In her spare time, Jody enjoys hiking, walking her dogs, volunteering for dog rescue and spending time with her husband and two children.
